New layer autocad 2013 mac

This is exactly what I was looking for! Keep up the good work! Love all of these routines! Upon further review, there does not seem to be a way to simply update a layer state.

You would have to delete the state and then re-save if you wanted to use the same name. Hi nards, Thank you for your comment. When I asked to leave comments, I meant exactly this kind comments: suggestions and reports about bugs. So now you can try updated version of LMAN see end of post. Hi Maxim, Love the site. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I have a lot of difficulty using the layer manager. The same applies for adding layers. If I hit the add layer button, nothing happens.

About AutoCAD Tips

Then after opening and closing the file the added layer appears. Is this something that others are having problems with? Do you think AutoCAD will address this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. All the Best, Kevin. I think these Layer troubles could depend on many reasons: amount of RAM on your Mac, DWG file size, and most important — quantity of layers in your file. Do you have such issues in files with just a few layers? I only have 10 or less layers in my drawing.

How to Create a New Layer in AutoCAD - dummies

The drawing file is a house floor plan, very small file KB. Instead of turning all the other Layers off — you can lock them instead, just follow the options at the command prompt.

This tool was also new in AutoCAD or with the subscription bonus pack. Instead of isolating the Layer of the selected objects, it isolates the selected objects themselves. Every other object in the drawing is made invisible, even if they are on the same Layer as the object you selected.

This is really a group of commands, the easiest way to use them is to select the objects you work with and right click:. Note : Object isolation does not remain between drawing sessions, so if someone else opens your drawing, all objects will be visible by default. The current object Isolation state is highlighted by the little light bulb icon in the task bar.

Speaking Engagements

Yellow means that all objects are visible, red means that some objects are hidden. You can also click on the Isolate objects light bulb icon to change the visibility state of objects. You just need to run the command and pick on the Layers you want to lock… simple! By the same token, although you can set Layers to be frozen or thawed and on or off in the Layers pull down, it can be more intuitive just to point and click. Phew, that was a long post.

If you made it all the way to the end, I congratulate you! Thanks for sticking around. You can now consider yourself a Layer productivity expert. Go forth and create geometry, and never use the Layer pull down again! Read this post to find out how to create and edit AutoCAD layers.

Hide or show layers in an AutoCAD drawing

Would it be possible for you to post a description of the problem you are having with the script you have so far on the Autodesk forums? This is a difficult thing to check for with a script. Thanks for the reminder. Is there a way to make the dialogue box for the layers properties wider? If I copy and paste a block, the pasted block ends up in the current drawing layer, rather than the layer the original block was in like it used to.

Could you start a thread in the Autodesk forums, outlining the steps you took — with screen shots or a troublesome file attached?

Please post a link to it here and I will check it out. It seems to catch up eventually! In the Name list, the linetype for the selected layer changes to the linetype you just chose. Using the lineweight property is a two-step process. You can turn the feature off and on with this button.

A lineweight of 0. Leave the lineweight set to Default, and instead later map screen colors to plotted lineweights. To add a description to the layer, scroll the layer list to the right to see the Description column, click in the Description box corresponding to the new layer, and type a description. Changes you make in the Layer Properties Manager palette are instantaneous.

The Layer drop-down list now displays the new layer as the current layer — the one on which AutoCAD places new objects you draw. Check out the brand new podcast series that makes learning easy with host Eric Martsolf. The Select Linetype dialog box appears.
